Not good enough’: Graham Potter’s verdict on Chelsea’s first half at Forest

Graham Potter has admitted that Chelsea’s first-half of overall performance was “now not true enough” in the 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea have picked up 15 points from Potter’s 10 Premier League games and the head train criticised the tempo of his players’ passing and motion as they did not build on Raheem Sterling’s opener. He refused to simply accept that Chelsea have been “bullied” through Forest, however, as the promoted crew came from behind to deserve the point gained by Serge Aurier’s 2nd-half equaliser.Potter said of the primary half: “Our performance degree wasn’t good enough to take the three factors. We didn’t flow the ball speedy sufficient, [and there was] no longer sufficient motion.

“When the game became a chunk greater out of control [in the second half] we suffered with the duels and struggled to deal with that component. It’s a tough game; Forest played a terrific sport however we’re dissatisfied with our overall performance over the 90 minutes and worried we didn’t deserve the win. It could have been unfair [for us] to take the three factors.”

Chelsea were missing Reece James, out for 3 to 4 weeks with a recurrence of the knee harm that dominated him out of the World Cup, Wesley Fofana (knee), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (calf), Ben Chilwell (hamstring), N’Golo Kanté (hamstring) and Édouard Mendy (shoulder).Reinforcements are coming, with a £32.7m charge agreed for Monaco’s centre-back Benoît Badiashile and the striker David Datro Fofana signed from Molde for £8m. Chelsea are pursuing the Benfica midfield anchorman Erno Fernández, who has a £106m release clause.

Potter became annoyed with his group but praised the way Forest, roused by way of their raucous home following, made the sport a struggle. “Credit Nottingham Forest,” he said. “They are right here [in the Premier League] for the first time in a while, celebrating the whole thing, and rightly so. They must use their blessings, that’s the surroundings, the gang. The second half, we didn’t control it well enough.

“I suppose we stood up nowadays even though. The effort turned into there. But faraway from home groups are not going to make it easy. [Opposing] players are asking [to exchange] shirts and we ought to be humble enough to understand that’s what we’re up in opposition to. [I’d] run thru a brick wall to say: ‘I am going to be top enough to play for Chelsea.’”Cooper changed into thrilled with the way his group were given as much as the click with extra cohesion in the 2nd half of as they deservedly extended their unbeaten home run to six matches earlier than they visit Southampton, backside of the table, on Wednesday. Jesse Lingard, but, might be missing for a month with a hamstring injury.

This become the first time Forest have won a point after going at the back of. “We need to be pleased we had been the better crew and we must’ve received,” Cooper stated. “But we didn’t. We will take the learnings from it.

“It’s grade by grade. We’ll never appearance too some distance beforehand. We have Southampton now who have had an additional rest day greater than us and we have to travel there. All [the] cognizance [is] on restoration now.”
